Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (December 26, 2017)Saturna Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of US-based Saturna Capital Corporation, received the Best Asset Manager Award during the Islamic Business & Finance Southeast Asia Awards held November 29, 2017. The awards This link will leave Saturna.com.my, which recognize exceptional performance and positive contributions to the global Islamic business and finance community, reflect peer-based evaluations resulting from an online poll administered by Islamic Business & Finance. Nearly 7,000 online votes were cast across 26 categories by bankers and financiers active in Southeast Asia's Islamic financial community.

"We are honored that our peers have chosen Saturna as Best Asset Manager in the first-ever Southeast Asia Awards," said Monem Salam, president and fund manager of Saturna Sdn Bhd. "We believe by remaining true to our long-established, principled, and sustainable Islamic investment process, we will continue to serve our clients and community well and set an example for transparency, fairness, and putting our investors' interests above all else. We are proud to have earned accolades from the international Islamic finance community. Going forward, we want to build on our reputation for innovative, sustainable investment products."

In June 2017, Saturna Sdn Bhd joined the leading edge of asset managers integrating Islamic and sustainable investment strategies with the launch of the ICD Global Sustainable Fund. Partnering with the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD), the private sector arm of the Islamic Development Bank, the Fund invests in equities of global issuers that demonstrate sustainable characteristics while also meeting the stringent Islamic investment guidelines of the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI). Saturna's global team of analysts and portfolio managers rate the sustainability of issuers, preferring those that are generally larger, more established, consistently profitable, financially strong, and with robust environmental, social, and governance (ESG) policies.

In 2014, Saturna Sdn Bhd introduced an innovative fee structure to the Malaysian marketplace and the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) region with the with the launch of the ASEAN Equity Fund. The Fund's low-fee structure, designed by Saturna in accordance with Islamic principles of fairness, transparency, and alignment with the long-term interests of unitholders, features no sales charge, low administrative fees, transparent distribution fees, and a performance-based management fee in which Saturna receives no compensation unless the Fund makes money for its investors. The ICD Global Sustainable Fund incorporates the same low-fee structure.

The firm inherits its pioneering spirit from parent company Saturna Capital Corporation, adviser since 1989 to the US-based Amana Mutual Funds, the first Islamic equity funds open to American investors.
